Minecraft or Portal?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a gamer, I’ll play both games over the Easter long-weekend! But yeah, hmm, I wanna catch up to Portal first before trying out Portal 2, as Notch highly recommends :-o

Aaaaaanyhoo, obviously I’ll still be mining, but here’s what I’ve been up to lately!

I’ve started to build a sky-high Sandcastle of some sorts!

Nooot quite done yet...

But yeah, as you can see I’ve started to build an outside-staircase going to a 2nd floor that I’m building, then I’ll expand upwards! It used to be a floating island that I started from bottom to top (I started by making a stone room below)

I find that I can only make a symmetric structure if I start it from scratch and not build INTO something like a mountain… I’d love to make a symmetric sandcastle with a courtyard or something, but it’ll take a while… I’ll probably try it once I go a bit higher and place enough sandstone to be my base foundation.

But anyhoo, for some highlights for the past 2 days:

  • Built my very first water elevator! Voot voot! I used sand and initially died by pushing myself in the boat while its frame was stuck in sand :| So now whenever I use it I make sure I don’t go too far into the walls since they’re not stable. Sure, I know sand and gravel just isn’t stable, but it wouldn’t go with the theme! Also, I’m saving sandstone for the castle above :p
  • So I kept dying 2 nights ago right? Well, the whole of last night was spent MIIINING again, and I found 7 Diamond this time!!! I’ve also got tons of redstone, a bit of Lapiz, and a whole bunch of cobble to make into stone!

Yeah, all in all, productive :D

So yeeeeaaaah, I’ll have a whole log of my adventures over the Easter weekend! GAD I love long breaks from work, don’t you? :|

Omg, so tonight was all about digging and mining and stuff… I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve been watching a helluvalotta Lord of the Rings WHILE playing, but shiiiiiiii…. I DIED 5 TIMES!!!!

Yep… My first hour playing tonight involved me getting a diamond, and I was so happy! But yeah, I died… Another time it’s coz I came across a skeleton spawner… That didn’t go well, even with my iron armor :|

Anyhoo, I learned my lesson, I now actually have a small area with a bed and a chest down there, and I think every now and then a trip all the way back up to my home aboveground is a good 15mins well spent just to make sure I still have all them redstones and iron :|

Stupid night… Oh well, on the bright side, 1.5 yo! Haven’t encountered any special weather conditions yet tho :p

Monday Weekend Recap pt. 2!

Sooooo wadduuuuup!!!!

Alright, now that I’ve gotten my game to work again, I’ve moved on to starting another project, but HEY! We’re not done with our weekend recap yet!

So there’s just one structure I was actually able to finish (-ish). I was able to dig out and CLOSE my underwater cavern.

Okay, I wanted to make a Rapture-esque underwater city, but damn, it’s so hard to make! Especially since I was building it without carving into the dirt… OKAY, so this is what happened when I DID try to dig down originally:

GRAAAAAAGH, I HIT A DUNGEON!!!! I FRIGGIN’ STARTED BUILDING ON TOP OF A DUNGEON AGAIN!!!!! :|

Which actually got me looooaaads of iron, gold, redstone, lapiz, and an emerald… Really? Just one? Yeah.

Oh, oh, oh, and I finally nabbed myself a Skeleton spawner!!!!! So now I have arrows up for grabs! Took around 200 arrows over dinner (I afk’d), so yeah, awesome. Funny, an hour later I found a zombie spawner too! Awesome. I left it undestroyed, waiting until we get something for destroying spawners…

Aaaaaanyhoo, pretty much that’s what happened over the weekend… Half of saturday was spent mining and exploring the dungeon fully, so yeah, it was a very productive saturday :D
